Subscription terms

1. Who provides the service

The service is provided by Christopher Scargill, trading as IGCSE Science Revision, a sole trader established in the United Kingdom. Email hello@igcsesciencerevision.com, which is the quickest way to reach us and the address we ask you to use. Our full postal address is in the contact record at section 18. In these terms, we, us and our mean that business.

2. Who may subscribe

The account holder and purchaser must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract. A learner may be under 18, but an adult must create, pay for and manage the account. The adult account holder can see the learner profile, subscription and synchronised progress connected to that account.

3. What the subscription includes

One subscription unlocks Biology, Chemistry and Physics study units, practice questions, section checkpoints and available timed mock papers with mark schemes. The free sample remains available without payment. Content is supplied through the IGCSE Science Revision web app for personal, non-commercial revision use.

The app provides educational guidance. Readiness indicators are generated from the learner's recorded activity and are not an official grade, prediction or guarantee. The materials are independent and are not affiliated with or endorsed by Pearson.

4. Functionality, compatibility and access

• A current browser with JavaScript and browser storage enabled is required. Sign-in, payment, progress synchronisation and first-time content loading require internet access.
• Some material may work offline after it has loaded, but we do not promise that every account, payment, video or newly released feature will work offline.
• YouTube videos are optional and load only when selected. Written study material is provided as an alternative.
• The account holder is responsible for a compatible device, internet connection and keeping sign-in details secure.

5. Price, order and renewal

The plans are £49 per year or £4.99 per month for all three subjects. The total price and billing interval are shown again on Stripe's checkout page before payment. Stripe processes the payment; we do not receive card details.

The subscription renews automatically for the chosen interval until it is cancelled. A contract is formed when Stripe confirms payment and access is enabled. We then email the adult account holder a durable confirmation containing the plan, price, these terms, cancellation information and the immediate-access acknowledgement. Contact us if it does not arrive.

The prices above include any tax due, so the amount shown at checkout is the amount charged. We will give reasonable advance notice of a price change affecting a future renewal. The purchaser may cancel before that renewal.

5a. Billing address

Stripe's checkout page asks for a billing address. It is required for two reasons: the country the purchaser is in determines which tax rules apply to the sale, and tax and accounting law requires us to keep a record of it. It also helps Stripe check that a payment is genuine.

It is used for those purposes only. It is never used for marketing, never used to build a profile of a learner, and never sold or passed to anyone else for their marketing.

Stripe holds the full address as part of the payment record. Only the two-letter country code is copied into the app's own database. The privacy notice explains what each one is used for and how long it is kept.

6. Immediate supply and the 14-day cancellation period

Before checkout, the purchaser separately:

1. agrees to these terms and the recurring subscription; and
2. expressly requests immediate supply during the 14-day cancellation period and acknowledges the cancellation consequences.

For digital content not supplied on a tangible medium, the statutory cancellation right may end once supply begins where the legal conditions for express consent, acknowledgement and confirmation are met. To the extent the subscription also includes a cancellable service, a purchaser who cancels during the 14 days may be required to pay only a proportionate amount for service supplied before cancellation where the law permits it. Nothing in these terms removes a cancellation right where the legal conditions for losing it have not been met.

To exercise a statutory cancellation right, email an unambiguous request to hello@igcsesciencerevision.com before the period ends. The model form in section 17 may be used but is not compulsory. We will make any refund due without undue delay and normally within 14 days, using the original payment method unless agreed otherwise.

7. Cancelling renewal

The account holder can cancel future renewal at any time from Your account → Manage subscription, which opens Stripe's customer portal, or by contacting us. Ordinary cancellation leaves access active until the end of the paid billing period and has no cancellation fee.

Account deletion is different. It requests deletion of the account and saved app data and cancels an active subscription. It may end access immediately and does not itself create a refund unless consumer law or these terms require one. Export anything needed before deletion.

8. Faults, refunds and consumer rights

Digital content and services must meet the rights that consumer law gives you, including being as described and of satisfactory quality where those requirements apply. Those rights are not excluded. If access or content is faulty, contact us so we can repair the problem, restore access or provide another remedy required by law. A refund is not automatically due merely because a learner did not use the service or changed their mind after a valid cancellation right ended.

9. Availability and support

We aim to keep the service available but do not promise uninterrupted operation. Maintenance, security work, provider outages or events outside our reasonable control may interrupt access. We will act within a reasonable time to restore a material fault and communicate a significant planned interruption where practicable. Support is available at the email address in section 1.

10. Changes to content, functionality or terms

We may correct errors, improve accessibility or security, update the specification coverage and make proportionate feature changes. We will not materially reduce the paid service without a valid reason. If a change materially disadvantages a current purchaser, we will give reasonable notice and explain any right to cancel or receive a remedy. Urgent legal or security changes may take effect sooner.

11. Accounts and acceptable use

Do not share the account outside the household or authorised learner, try to bypass access controls, disrupt the service, upload harmful material, or copy, publish, sell or redistribute the content. Reasonable extracts may be used for the learner's own revision. We may temporarily restrict an account to investigate security or serious misuse and will act fairly when deciding whether to restore or terminate access.

Dormant accounts are closed. If an account shows no activity at all for two years, we close it and delete the account and everything held with it. We email the account holder 30 days before, and signing in during that time keeps the account open. An account with a live subscription is never closed this way. This is a data protection duty rather than a commercial decision: we are not permitted to keep personal information longer than we need it. Retention periods are set out in the privacy notice.

12. Intellectual property

The app and original study materials are owned by or licensed to IGCSE Science Revision. The subscription gives a personal, limited, non-transferable right to use them while access is available. It does not transfer ownership or permission to create a competing question bank or commercial resource.

13. Privacy and third parties

Our privacy notice explains the use of Supabase, Cloudflare, Stripe, Brevo, Anthropic and optional YouTube, educational profiling, international transfers, retention and rights. Stripe and YouTube also apply their own terms and privacy information to services they provide directly.

We also use an AI assistant, Claude, to help write and maintain the app, to draft material and to investigate faults. It is not part of the app, it has no standing access to accounts or progress, and no decision about a learner is made by it. From 1 September 2026 it is used under a business plan with a data processing agreement, so Anthropic acts as our processor; where a fault cannot be investigated without them, records containing personal data may be shared with it, kept to the least that answers the question. Section 8a of the privacy notice explains this.

14. Liability

Nothing limits liability where the law does not allow it, including for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or death or personal injury caused by negligence. We are not responsible for a particular examination result or for losses caused by using readiness as an official prediction. We are not liable for business losses because the subscription is supplied for personal use. Any other limitation applies only to the extent permitted by consumer law.

15. Complaints

For billing, content or service complaints, email hello@igcsesciencerevision.com with the account email, a description and the outcome requested. We will acknowledge the message and aim to provide a substantive response within a reasonable time. Data-protection concerns can also be submitted through the app's privacy complaint form and may be raised with the Information Commissioner's Office.

16. General terms

If a court finds one term unenforceable, the remaining terms continue. A delay in enforcing a term is not a waiver. We may transfer the contract only where this does not reduce consumer rights; the purchaser may not transfer the subscription without our agreement. English law applies, and consumers may bring proceedings in the courts that consumer law permits, including the courts where they live in the United Kingdom.

17. Model cancellation form

Use this form only if you wish to cancel under a statutory cancellation right. It can be emailed; no signature is needed for an email.
